ARPA-E Funding Awarded To Feasible
August 23, 2018

Feasible has been awarded $1.8 million by ARPA-E for the development of electrochemical-acoustic signal interrogation analysis of batteries. The project term will start Aug. 23, 2017 and scheduled to end Aug. 22, 2019. As part of the project, Feasible will build on its current developments to create a non-invasive, low-cost, ultrasonic diagnostic system that links the electrochemical reactions taking place inside a battery with changes in how sound waves propagate through the battery. This technology will bridge the gap in battery diagnostics between structural insights and electrical measurements and will offer both speed and scalability. The project will allow energy storage companies to build models that link the mechanical and electrochemical properties of full batteries. It will be useful for materials development to quality control to battery management systems and will have significant security, environmental, and economical impacts.
